$20,000 Grant from the Longleaf Fund

SOAR Academy recently received a $20,000 grant from The Longleaf Fund which is administered by The Foundation for the Carolinas.  This grant is to be utilized to purchase $10,000 in adaptive equipment for students and $10,000 will go toward therapy costs.  What a wonderful, wonderful gift!!

Partnering With United Way of the Piedmont

SOAR Academy will be the recipient of Community Impact Funds from United Way of the Piedmont this year.  ($13,000).  These funds are to be utilized for our Integrated Therapy Program.  SOAR Academy sends a special thank you to all the folks out there giving through the United Way!!

Teresa Loving Receives National Recognition Award

Executive Director, Teresa Loving recently was named the 2008 recipient of the Freida J. Riley Teacher Award.    The award comes with a $10,000 gift and Teresa plans to use this gift to begin a special fund through the Spartanburg County Foundation for SOAR Academy.   The $10,000 prize is sponsored by the Christopher Columbus Foundation, a Federal government agency, in partnership with the YWCA of Harrison County. Executive Director Recognized by Spartanburg County Foundation

Executive Director, Teresa Loving, received the Mary L. Thomas Award for Civic Leadership and Community Change on March 25th.  Ms. Loving was recognized for her achievements and success in founding SOAR Academy.  Ms. Loving received $5,000 in award monies which she has donated to SOAR's scholarship fund.  Congratulations and thank you Teresa!

SOAR Academy Receives $30,000 Grant From Women Giving

SOAR Academy received a $30,000 grant from Women Giving for Spartanburg on May 1st.  This generous grant will be utilized to help fund SOAR's therapy program.  SOAR wishes to thank the ladies of Spartanburg County for their support!  Click here to read more.

Healing Arts Brings Performing Artists To SOAR

Healing Arts is a group of artists who donate their time and talents to bring the performing arts to area schools and non-profits.  The students of SOAR Academy love the programs given by the artists who have visited us this year and look forward to a continued partnership with Healing Arts.

SOAR Completes First Vacation Bible School for Children With Special Needs

During the week of June 9 - 13th, SOAR Academy hosted Spartanburg's first Vacation Bible School dedicated to children with special needs.  The event was funded through a generous gift from Morningside Baptist Church of Spartanburg.  As the photos below show, we had an action-packed, wonderful week!  Thank you Morningside!
