In July of 2004 a group of educators, parents, therapists, and nurses came together because they recognized the need for a school where children with special needs could come for a comprehensive education. Our vision is to offer families a place where children with special needs can receive an education tailored to meet their specific, individual needs in a setting that offers both education and therapies in one location. Our vision for SOAR Academy is to be a place where these children can reach their fullest potential with the assistance and encouragement of a team of caring, committed professionals. We also want to be a source of support for these families, with workshops, support groups, and the convenience of specialized services. With great persistence and diligence, we have made our dream a reality. We are now a non-profit, private special education school offering all of these services and opportunities for special needs children and their families!
SOAR Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. SOAR Academy is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of South Carolina.

"We are so happy with the progress that Micah has made this year at SOAR Academy. She is learning to read, she has made significant progress with her speech and motor skills, and most of all, she is HAPPY!! She loves to come to school, and she is blessed with therapists, teachers, and staff who love the kids here, and are committed to making SOAR an awesome environment where our special children can flourish. In addition to the support Micah receives, as parents we have benefitted from the parent support meetings where we can share our thoughts, triumphs and traumas with other parents who understand what it is like to have a child with special needs." - Betsy and Jeff R., Micah's parents -
